About OOO Web Studios
In 2019 Sarah and her husband, Rick, launched SQRBDY Gear, a merch shop celebrating 1973-87 classic Chevy trucks. Her very first website was an e-commerce Squarespace site to sell SQRBDY apparel and gear. When friends and community partners began asking for help with their own sites, she realized that small businesses needed something most career designers didn’t offer: simple, scalable websites that looked great and were priced for small business budgets.
Out of Office Web Studios (formerly Small Sites by Sarah) is named for the out-of-office message Sarah never got to write. In early 2025, she was illegally fired from her dream job as a health communication specialist at CDC. The firing was part of a sweeping and unlawful campaign that targeted public health professionals across the country. Building websites, which had been a fun side hustle, suddenly became what was paying the bills.
Today, she runs Out of Office Web Studios full time from her home in Decatur, GA. She builds clean, functional Squarespace sites for small businesses, creative projects, and people doing meaningful work on limited budgets. She’s also expanded to provide freelance marketing and communications support for small businesses.

Meet Sarah.
Sarah doesn’t take injustice lying down. She is a co-founder of Fired But Fighting, a national coalition advocating for illegally terminated HHS employees and fighting for public health as a federal service. She serves as the coalition’s Director of Marketing and Operations, helping lead public communications and internal systems.
She loves fast cars, classic trucks, and her poodle, Brembo.
